Clients come to me for many reasons but one of them is that they just do not find shopping for clothes an easy or pleasurable experience. In this podcast I have unpacked 10 barriers to shopping for clothes and given some practical, real life suggestions on how to overcome these challenges. The challenges are:
You think you don't (or you actually don't) have enough money for clothes
Clothes only serve to prevent nakedness or to keep you warm and its stressful when you have to wear something for looks
Don’t like your body
Have no idea what suits your colouring
You haven’t shopped for ages and you don’t know what’s available in the shops
Your body has radically changed shape and you don’t know how to shop for it
You have got older and don’t know what suits you
You don’t know what’s appropriate for your life now as you have a new job / kids / are self-employed / have moved cites or countries
You have a very opinionated partner / friend / other person in your life who undermines your confidence so you are unsure what to buy
You don’t know where to start
Listen to my podcast for suggestions and ideas on how to overcome these challenges.

Another style dilemma I am often asked to solve involves helping my clients with layering their clothing. Whether its for warmth or style it can be challenging in both instances.
Layering is often in three or more parts:
1. Base layer garments: sports bras, singlets, camisoles, slips, thermals.
2. Mid layers: t shirts, shorts, long sleeved tops, thermals
3. Outer layers: jackets, jerseys/sweaters, blazers, coats, rain jackets
Why do we layer:
Warmth / insulation
To keep cool
Style / creativity
To cover up lumps and bumos
To give visual balance
To give you shape
To combine pattern and colour
To wear hard to match pieces
To wear pieces trans-seasonally
For fun!
Listen to my podcast to get all the tips and tricks and feel free to contact me if you want some help with this.
Enjoy!
